Scent of Simplicity

Blossoming from a collaboration between fashion house Brunello Cucinelli and perfumer Daphné Bugey, Brunello Cucinelli Pour Femme eau de parfum celebrates the beauty in simplicity. Notes of chestnut accord and precious woods give way to top notes of spices and citrus fruits, with a base of amber and musk for warmth and comfort. Founded by the Toronto-born, Los Angeles-based jeweller Kirsty Stone — the granddaughter of both a costume designer and a gemstone collector — Retrouvaí finds inspiration in the nostalgic. The brand name derives from the French “retrouvailles”, which describes the joy of reconnecting with something from the past. Lollipop is a one-of-a-kind ring crafted in 18-karat yellow gold, with a vibrant 8.05-carat Mahenge spinel set in hand-carved turquoise. Donnafugata Castle near Ragusa, in south-east Sicily, has a mysterious history. Legend has it that in the 15th century, Queen Bianca di Navarra (the widow of King Martino I d’Aragona) was imprisoned there by a Spanish warlord intent on seizing the crown. Whatever the truth of that story, the castle now plays muse to a bedding set by luxury sheet maker Pratesi.
